Andy Cohen is addressing Martina Navratilova‘s controversial comments about surrogacy.
Last month, the 68-year-old former tennis star, who is married to Real Housewives of Miami star Julia Lemigova, made headlines when she tweeted, “Surrogacy is just wrong. Sometimes you can’t have it all.” After facing intense backlash, Martina deleted the post.
During a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Julia, 53, made it clear that she doesn’t not agree with Martina‘s stance, saying, “I completely disagree with her comments.”
On the Tuesday (August 5) episode of his SiriusXM show Andy Cohen Live, the 57-year-old WWHL host, who welcomed his two kids via surrogacy, hit back at Martina‘s comments.
Keep reading to find out more…“I asked Julia about it on WWHL,” Andy said. “Julia and I have discussed this offline. Martina will not be at the Miami reunion, so I will not be asking Martina about this.”
He went on to say that while he won’t be speaking with Martina, he does have additional questions for Julia.
“I’m sure it will come up again at the [RHOM] reunion, because guess what? I believe Lisa Hochstein had major complications with her last pregnancy and possibly needed to use [a surrogate],” Andy noted.
Andy then slammed Julia‘s response to Martina‘s tweets, and said that the former tennis pro’s stance was very clear from all of her posts about surrogacy.
“You know, Julia did say on Watch What Happens Live, and we were live, and I didn’t want to start debating it, and I will ask her this at the reunion, what she said is Martina’s tweet was kind of misinterpreted or misrepresented,” Andy said.
“What Martina tweeted was ‘surrogacy is wrong.’ So I don’t know how that’s…she said, ‘Surrogacy is just wrong. Sometimes you can’t have it all,’” he continued. “Well, here’s the deal. That’s just ill-informed and dumb. And yes, we will talk about it at the reunion.”
Andy added, “Basically, she’s uninformed on the issue, so I just think she’s not informed. It’s a bad take. What can I tell you? She’s just wrong.”
The season seven reunion of The Real Housewives of Miami filmed earlier this week and is expected to air on Bravo within the coming weeks.
