Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday, while presenting the full budget for FY25, announced a 15 per cent duty cut on mobile phones and accessories. In the previous year’s budget session, prices of items such as TVs, smartphones, compressed gas, shrimp feed, and lab-grown diamonds were lowered. Conversely, the costs of cigarettes, air travel, and textiles saw an increase. The new budget continues to address these and other essential commodities, aiming to balance economic growth with consumer needs.
