About & History of Lays
Lays potato chips was founded back in 1932. Pepsi bought the company in 1965
How it all began: Back in 1932, Mr Heran Lay opened up a snack shack, and in 1938, he purchased a potato chip manufacturer and began selling chips from the trunk of his car ( He named the company HW Lay Lingo. The Lays company succeeded in having a large-scale production of its chips.
Lays went National in the 1950s.
In the early 1960s, the famous slogan” bet you can’t eat just one” was a big success.
In 1965, Frito-Lay merged with Pepsi, and they began coming out with different flavours such as Barbecue; then, in 1991, they created a new crisper chipper that kept longer with the “wavy lays” products.
In the late 1990s, Lays also introduced a lower-calorie baked version, and in early 2000, they introduced Kettle Chips and did up a Lay’s Stax to compete with Pringles.
